Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are becoming more and more popular in home design. Though man-made, quartz countertops still lend natural beauty to interiors. It features the beauty and look of indigenous stone, but with even less maintenance and upkeep. When you choose quartz, you’re combining marble’s aesthetics with granite’s durability.

What Exactly is Quartz?

To create quartz countertops, fabricators start by mixing ground quartz with resin. The ratio of 90% quartz to 8-10% resins, polymers, and pigments makes for a hard, granite-like surface. Once combined, the mixture can create a wide variety of colors and patterns.

The final look depends on the coarseness of the ground quartz and how the fabricators pour it. The finer the quartz’s grind, the smoother the pattern. Coarser grinds can give a speckled or flecked looked. And of course, the color and tone options are nearly endless. It’s available in two- and three-centimeter thicknesses.

Quartz Countertops Are Perfect for Homes

Because of its composition, quartz’s durability is hard to surpass. It can stand up to the scratches and stains that come with everyday use. Additionally, quartz is less likely to absorb liquids. This durability makes quartz an obvious choice for modern kitchens. You’ll find it resists chips and cracks from sharp knives and heavy pots.

And At Work

Business owners LOVE quartz. Used in commercial spaces, it’ll stand up to constant wear and tear—as well as the clumsiest of customers. Because it’s non-porous, quartz deters bacteria growth as well as discoloration. And due to this built-in durability, quartz countertops don’t require resealing.
