Buying Process for Homeowners

Buying Process for Homeowners

Step 1: Initial Consultation

During a scheduled consultation, the homeowner and a STONE team member will discuss all available options, benefits of each material, and how each may fit your needs.

Information to address:

  • Remodel or New Build Details
  • Customer/Project Style
  • Stone Material Differences
  • Countertop Edge Profile
  • Stone Yard Material Selection Process

Step 2: Preliminary Measure and Estimate

In order to provide an accurate estimate for a project, the homeowner must provide preliminary measurements. If the homeowner would rather a scheduled measure of their countertop spaces, then an appointment will be arranged. Once measurements are determined, STONE will then create a slab layout based on materials selected. Stone materials can be selected from local stone yards or from inventory at our Airline location (11840 Airline Hwy.). The slab layout provides the consumer with the number of slabs needed for each space.

Note, if allowances are given by homeowner/contractor, then STONE will help provide materials that fit in budget. Materials that are chosen without STONE’s direct assistance will be priced out and overages will be determined.

After the customer accepts the project estimate, STONE will then generate an invoice and installation contract, which must be signed and returned as soon as possible. Note, materials at stone yards only have 10 -14 day holding periods. In order to purchase material, STONE must receive the signed estimate or invoice and contract with a 60% deposit denoted in the contract. Please read estimate or invoice and contract thoroughly, customer signature ensures that all material listed is accepted by the homeowner.

Step 3: Final Measure Template

STONE will communicate with the customer/contractor to schedule a final measure. If project is a new build, this step will take place once cabinets are installed. For renovations, this step takes place after existing countertop demolition and all cabinet or paint changes have been completed.

STONE can provide under mount kitchen, laundry, bar, outdoor kitchen, and bath vanity sinks as requested. If purchased elsewhere, sinks will need to be available at the time of stone material fabrication. The customer can either have sinks brought directly to STONE’s fabrication warehouse, which is located at 11840 Airline Hwy, or have our serviceman pick up upon scheduled final measure.

Before final measure, the stove top ovens and grills must be at the project site. Also, details for each faucet must be provided with the number of holes required or spread (i.e. 6” or 8”) for each cut out. Before any materials will be cut and polished – STONE must have all information explained above.

During the final measurement appointment it is important that the decision maker be present to discuss fabrication details of the countertops, i.e. placement of any seams and cut outs.

Please note that no additional changes can be made beyond this point.

Step 4: Fabrication

STONE’s craftsmen will cut and fabricate your custom countertops to the specifications of the final template.

Step 5: Installation

When fabrication is complete, STONE will contact you to schedule countertop installation and demolition, if required.

Demolition and installation are typically completed within one to two business days, subject to the number of areas to be installed.

Step 6: Final Payment and Sign-Off

Final payment is due once installation is complete and after the customer or project manager signs-off acknowledging their satisfaction with STONE’s services.
